Mayor Barbara Ludwig welcomes 40 people from Neuchemnitz to the naturalisation ceremony
The newly naturalised citizens of Chemnitz come from Hungary, Vietnam, Greece, Cuba, Ukraine and 20 other countries. Today, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig welcomed 40 of them to the Chemnitz Ratskeller: "These people have made an important decision for their lives: they want to live here in Germany. I am happy to take this opportunity to talk to the people of Neuchemnitz, to talk about their history, plans and ideas and to welcome them to our city."
The naturalisation ceremony is taking place for the third time in Chemnitz. After the Mayor's welcoming address, the Chairman of the Foreigners' Advisory Council, Montero Perez, spoke. Also present were the City of Chemnitz's Commissioner for Foreigners, Etelka Kobuß, Angela Gomon-Voit from Caritasverband Chemnitz und Umg. e.V. and a representative of the Jewish Community of Chemnitz.
At the end, tower keeper Stefan Weber showed the people of Neuchemnitz the view over the city centre from the town hall tower.
In Chemnitz, a total of 120 citizens from 26 countries of origin opted for German citizenship between 17 June 2011 and 22 August 2012 and received their naturalisation certificate.
