Weekly market back at Markt and Neumarkt from 30 November
From Tuesday, 30 November, the weekly market will take place again on the Markt and Neumarkt. This deviation from the market calendar published for 2021 is due to the fact that the Christmas market was cancelled due to the coronavirus situation.
The current legal basis of the Free State of Saxony currently allows the organisation of weekly markets (§67 of the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act). The food sector has been defined as a clear boundary for the expansion. Around ten to 15 additional traders (e.g. salami, dried fruit, confectionery, bakery products, gingerbread, etc.) have expressed their interest. The dates, times, location and expansion have been agreed with the existing weekly market traders.
The dismantling of the Christmas market huts is expected to be completed this weekend and the extension will then be erected on Monday.
