Website completely revised
As of today, the City of Chemnitz's website at the familiar address www.chemnitz.de has been completely revamped with a new look in response to the fundamental change in user behaviour over the past few years. The new website has been developed in a responsive design and therefore also appears on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets in a display optimised for the respective device. The site is largely barrier-free.
The content of the city portal has been completely revised: The content is now organised according to the user's lifestyle and topics and is no longer based on the city administration's office structures. Target group entry points on the home page make it easier for citizens, visitors and investors, among others, to find their way around. The latter two generally lead to the corresponding CWE offers. Services that Chemnitz residents can use to contact the Citizens' Office or the public authority telephone number 115 are now also easier to find on the homepage.
In addition, the technical basis has been completely modernised. This is a prerequisite for the planned further expansion of the website, such as subscribing to content via RSS feeds or linking additional content to the themed city map. The service portal will also be given a visual overhaul in the summer, and the petition forum will also be equipped with new functionalities in addition to the visual modernisation.
The content and visual redesign of chemnitz.de was realised by Creativ Clicks. The Chemnitz-based multimedia agency won the competition. A jury was involved in the selection process, which included representatives of the city council and disabled people as well as the administration. Interface:Projects was responsible for the technical realisation. In addition to the city's website, the Dresden-based IT service provider also operates the service portal as well as intranet and knowledge management platforms within the city administration.
Over the past two years, a total of around 30,000 euros has been invested in the visual design and around 125,000 euros in the technical modernisation of the platform.
