From Chemnitz to Stockholm - Franz T. Cohn and his life story
On Tuesday 15 May at 6 pm, the book "WIR LEBEN WEITER - Die Geschichte einer Familie" by Franz T. Cohn will be premiered in Chemnitz at the Central Library in the TIETZ.
The filmmaker and publisher Prof Eberhard Görner will talk about how and why this book came about. Admission costs 6 euros, concessions 4 euros.

Franz Cohn was born in Chemnitz in 1927 as the son of Margot and Fritz Cohn, a lawyer, doctor of law, lover of German classical literature and music, World War II officer and recipient of high military honours. From the distance of three quarters of a century, he describes how his father refused to accept the completely unfounded accusation in 1933 that he was not a bearer of German culture.From the child's perspective, Franz Cohn describes the consequences of his father's attitude. Almost at the last minute, the parents Margot and Fritz brought their children to safety in three different countries before they were able to leave for Norway themselves. Franz Cohn describes the escape of his siblings and parents. He himself was transported to Stockholm in Sweden. His uncle Gottfried Bermann-Fischer, the publisher of the German cultural publishing house S. Fischer, took him into his family in Sweden. Ultimately, Sweden and Stockholm became the new home of Franz and Eva Cohn, their three children and seven now grown-up grandchildren. Franz proudly says: "WE CONTINUE TO LIVE!"
The book was published in March 2018 by Mironde-Verlag Niederfrohna.
