At its meeting today, the City Council approved the new wastewater charges of the City of Chemnitz from 1 February 2025 for the years 2025 to 2027 as well as the business plan of the waste management company of the City of Chemnitz for the year 2025.
For the discharge of wastewater via public sewers into the public sewage treatment plant, the fees from 1 February 2025 will be a total of EUR 4.41 per cubic metre (incl. VAT) for wastewater and EUR 1.61 per square metre (incl. VAT) for rainwater.
For the disposal of wastewater from drainless pits, the charge is EUR 11 per cubic metre (incl. VAT) and for the disposal of faecal and sewage sludge from small sewage treatment plants or faecal pits EUR 86.39 per cubic metre (incl. VAT).
The city council's decision ensures the continuous operation and maintenance of the approximately 1,000 kilometre-long sewer network, the wastewater treatment plants and the central wastewater treatment plant in Heinersdorf.
In the calculation period from 2025 to 2027, an average annual investment of around 70 million euros is planned for the city of Chemnitz's wastewater infrastructure. These investments are urgently needed to ensure reliable, functional, ecological and economical wastewater disposal and treatment in the city of Chemnitz.
Safe wastewater disposal serves to reduce water and soil pollution and thus improves the quality of life in the city.
