Waste regulations of the City of Chemnitz adopted
At its meeting today, the City Council approved changes to the waste and waste fee statutes of the City of Chemnitz from 1 January 2024.
The further development of recycling costs for residual waste and bulky waste is currently difficult to predict. The new statutes are therefore valid for one year.
The fee equalisation provision, which records the additional income compared to the calculation, has been used up in recent years.
From 1 January 2024, the basic fee per household will therefore rise from €37.20 to €39.60 per year. This corresponds to a monthly basic fee per household of €3.30 in the coming year.
The regular emptying fee for residual and organic waste has also been moderately adjusted. The fee is determined by the number of waste containers installed per property, the type of waste container (authorised waste container sizes) and the emptying frequency ordered in each case. This also includes the free disposal of bulky waste once a year.
The costs, which are based on the actual amount of waste generated (mass fee), will rise from 18 cents per kilogramme to 23.8 cents per kilogramme for residual waste. The recycling costs for organic waste will rise from 6.2 cents to 6.8 cents per kilogramme.
"We have no influence on the recycling costs and have to pass these on to the fee payers on a one-to-one basis," says ASR operations manager Marcus Kropp.
The fee for the 60-litre green waste sack for collecting excess quantities of green waste (such as hedge and shrub cuttings, grass cuttings, leaves, weeds) as a year-round service for collection at municipal recycling centres (bring system) remains stable. The fees for the 60-litre leaf bag also remain stable.
The following changes were made to the waste statutes:
Bulky waste
The quantity of bulky waste that can be collected free of charge from private households (collection from the property) is limited to 20 cubic metres; quantities in excess of this will be subject to a charge.
The quantity of bulky waste that can be collected from other areas of origin (businesses) is limited to 10 cubic metres.
The previously possible express collection of bulky waste (collection within two days - Mondays to Fridays) will be continued in the scheduled collection variant.
Third parties are not permitted to place (bulky) waste next to the waste already provided for collection. Violations of this rule constitute an administrative offence and may result in a fine.
Organic waste
Fees of 13.24 euros are charged for the provision and collection of the "seasonal organic waste bin" in accordance with the waste fee statutes of the City of Chemnitz
