Warning strike on 8 March in municipal day-care centres
Parents are informed by the organisation
The Verdi trade union has called on employees in social and educational professions in municipal daycare centres to go on warning strike on Wednesday, 8 March.
The City of Chemnitz, as the provider of municipal daycare facilities, will not make any decisions regarding closures or partial closures or the organisation of emergency care in the daycare facilities.
If employees from municipal daycare centres take part in the warning strike and this leads to restrictions in childcare, parents will be informed by the respective centre.
In accordance with § 3 Para. 4 of the parental contribution statutes, necessary closures of facilities for operational reasons (e.g. strike action, emergencies) do not lead to a reduction or cancellation of the parental contribution.
If a trade union calls a strike, all employees of these facilities have the right to strike if they are affected by the "object of the strike". The right to strike is protected by the constitution (Article 9 (3) of the Basic Law).
