On Friday 7 August at 10.30 am, Mayor Thomas Kütter will officially open the new footpaths in the Schloßteichanlagen at the Ernst Thälmann Memorial, on Promenadenstraße near Arndtplatz.

The park paths in two areas of the Schloßteich park grounds have been undergoing renovation since early March. The main eastern path, which runs parallel to Promenadenstraße for a length of approximately 440 metres, has been thoroughly refurbished, and the area around the Ernst Thälmann monument has been restored in accordance with conservation guidelines. In the northern part of the Schloßteich, on Schloßteichstraße, a natural footpath that had formed spontaneously, approximately 50 metres long, was also completely removed and shrubs were planted.
The entire planning and implementation process took place in close technical consultation with the heritage protection authority. The costs for these two phases of the construction project amount to around 450,000 euros, two-thirds of which are funded by the ‘Lebendige Zentren’ programme.
Next year, the refurbishment of the paths along Promenadenstraße up to Schloßteichstraße will continue.
