Voting starts on the design of the new mobile library

Invitation to the press conference: 24 October, 11 a.m., TIETZ City Library

On Tuesday, 24 October at 11 a.m., representatives of the media are invited to a press conference in the library laboratory in the central library in the TIETZ. The head of the city library, Corinna Meinel, will then provide information about the new mobile library and present the public vote on its design.

There are three designs to choose from, which interested parties can vote for online on the City of Chemnitz's participation portal from Tuesday. The vote will run until 21 November.

The electrically powered vehicle is set to roll through the streets of Chemnitz from next year. Completion of the new mobile library is planned for the second quarter of 2024. The vehicle is currently being assembled and configured by a Saxon company.

The mobile library will be located at schools and public stops under the name "FaBi". In addition to borrowing media, the service will include gaming, games and reading aloud as well as simple internet access. The aim is to provide children and young people with free access to analogue and digital media.

To ensure that the FaBi is easily recognisable, the city library has commissioned three designs for the exterior. All three designs come from professional, regional creatives. These are ideas that can be adapted after the public vote.
