Voluntary Ecological Year at the Museum of Natural History
School time almost over - and after that? This question is currently being asked by some people who have just finished their school-leaving exams. How about completing a Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) at the Museum of Natural History in Chemnitz?
The Museum of Natural History is offering the opportunity to start a Voluntary Ecological Year in September 2019 in the areas of bioscience/entomology and in the museum's own insectarium. The museum is looking for school leavers aged between 15 and 27 who are interested in nature. "If you enjoy butterflies, can imagine working closely with a zoologist and would like to carry out scientific research yourself, then you've come to the right place," says Sven Erlacher, biologist at the Natural History Museum in Chemnitz.
An FÖJ is ideal for gaining important experience and bridging the time until university. The FÖJ at the Chemnitz museum is organised by Paritätische Freiwilligendienst Sachsen gGmbH. Accompanying seminars and excursions to an adventure camp are also organised. This allows the young people to share their experiences of their FÖJ with each other.
The FÖJ starts on 1 September 2019 and ends on 31 August 2020.
