Viva la musica! - Long live the music!

Concert project by the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chemnitz Municipal Music School on 9 June, 6 p.m. in the Opera House

On Saturday, 9 June at 6 pm, the concert project "Viva la musica!" - "Long live the music!" can be experienced in the opera house. Admission costs 5 euros.

This joint project by musicians from the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra and ensembles from the Municipal Music School is being continued for the seventh time.
Pupils and professionals have been sitting side by side at the podium during the last few weeks of rehearsals. In this way, instrumental skills are taught directly from professionals to young musicians.

This year, a plucked string orchestra with additional cellos and the popular soprano Guibee Yang will perform the famous work "Bachianas Brasileiras" by Heitor Villa-Lobos. The youth symphony orchestra will play a medley from West Side Story, a concerto for flautino with the young soloist Julia Carola Seifert and some folk song arrangements for everyone to sing along to. The very young string students of the "Flitzebögenorchester" will also be performing. There will also be a clarinet and a cello ensemble. As a highlight, the national prize winner of "Jugend musiziert" and "Jugend komponiert", Jonas Otte, will play his own compositions on the piano and works by his favourite composer, Alexander Scriabin.
