"Viva la Musica!" - Invitation to the fifth edition of the concert project of the Municipal Music School and the Philharmonic Orchestra
The fifth edition of the successful concert project "Viva la Musica!" will take place on Sunday, 11 May at 10:30 a.m. at Chemnitz Opera House. Since 2009, the results of the co-operation between Chemnitz Municipal Music School and the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra have been regularly presented in a concert. Pupils from the Municipal Music School will once again be playing together with musicians from the Philharmonic Orchestra in various groups. For example, the "Flitze-Bögen" will play works by Andrea Holzer-Rhomberg and Sheila Nelson, the large brass ensemble will dedicate itself to Jeremiah Clarke and the members of the Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform pieces by Vivaldi, Lischka, Bach and Dvořák. In addition to tradition, there will also be something new to discover: For the first time, a big band, the plucked string ensemble "Bundstifte" and also pupils from the Chomutov Art and Music School in the Czech Republic will be performing at "Viva la Musica!". A total of around 150 participants will take part in the concert in the opera house.
The fifth edition of "Viva la Musica!" will be presented by music school director Nancy Gibson and Andreas Weber, member of the Philharmonic Orchestra. Nancy Gibson: "We are very much looking forward to this new edition of our concert project. In recent years, an intensive collaboration has developed between the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chemnitz Municipal Music School. The activities range from concert preparations for various music school ensembles to accompanying particularly talented pupils on their way to competitions and university studies to joint orchestral projects."
Tickets for the concert cost 3 euros for children and 6 euros for adults and can currently still be purchased in advance at the theatre box offices.
