Czech and Polish students get to know Chemnitz University of Technology and the city
At the end of their taster week, the girls and boys aged 16 to 18 from the Czech Republic and Poland will get to know the European work of the City of Chemnitz. They will come to the Green Salon of the City Hall on Friday, 13 June 2014 at 09:00 and learn interesting facts about the city of Chemnitz, the business location and the city as an attractive place to live and work.
EU Coordinator Pia Sachs will provide exciting insights into cooperation with Czech and Polish partners. She also explains the importance of co-operation in Europe in general. The aim of the reception is to inspire pupils to study, do an internship or start a career in Chemnitz.
After the presentation in the Green Salon, tower keeper Stefan Weber will be waiting for the young guests to give them an entertaining tour of the town hall and introduce them to the place where the city's political leaders worked. They can also enjoy the view from the High Tower over the city and the surrounding area.
The taster week is organised by the International University Centre (IUZ) at Chemnitz University of Technology. Together with the Chair of Machine Tools and Forming Technology, it offers young people from neighbouring countries a programme that focuses on mechanical engineering. It includes an excursion to UNION Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH Chemnitz and a tour of the city centre. The background to this is the German-Czech double degree programme "Production Engineering", which Chemnitz University of Technology and Brno University of Technology will be offering from winter semester 2014 as part of the Bachelor's degree programme in Mechanical Engineering.
