Variants for new basketball court are presented

On Saturday, 4 March at 4 pm, interested parties can find out more about the planned new basketball court in Konkordiapark at the Chemnitz Exhibition Centre. Mayor Michael Stötzer and the planning office sLandArt will present the various planning options and discuss them with guests before the Niners' game against Braunschweig. Further ideas and opinions are welcome. Young users in particular should be involved in the design.
The plans for a new basketball court are the result of the commitment of a number of basketball fans in the city of Chemnitz. "The CHEMNITZ BASKETBALL project expresses the city's love of art, culture and sport. We firmly believe that a new basketball court in Konkordiapark would be an enrichment for our city. There are few public basketball courts in our city, although basketball is a very popular leisure sport in Chemnitz. This need gave rise to the idea of building a new basketball court, preferably in the centre of Konkordiapark. The court should not only be functional, but also attract attention beyond the region. The basis for this should be a globally relevant design, similar to the model from Paris, Pigalle Square," says project initiator Andre Zimpel.
Chemnitz University of Technology will be present at the trade fair on 4 March with a technical highlight: virtual reality goggles will enable guests to explore the future square in virtual reality and turn it into a tangible experience. The Professorships of Labour Science & Innovation Management and General & Occupational Psychology at Chemnitz University of Technology are researching innovative human-technology interfaces in the working and living environment of tomorrow. The professorship is developing a digital participation format in the course of virtual reality. Participants will have the opportunity to actively participate in the design of Konkordiapark, familiarise themselves with innovative technologies and contribute to their research.
