The Office for Health and Prevention of the City of Chemnitz is once again offering regular immunisation consultations.
Vaccination consultations for adults are always held on the third Thursday of the month from 2 to 5 pm. To register, it is necessary to make an appointment online at www.chemnitz.de/impfen. The first vaccination appointment of this kind will take place on Thursday, 19 February. Additional seasonal vaccination days against influenza and Covid19 are also planned for the autumn.
The paediatric and adolescent medical service vaccinates children from the age of one every fourth Friday of the month from 8 to 11.30 am. Appointments for this consultation can also be made online at www.chemnitz.de/impfen. The next consultation is scheduled for Friday, 27 February.
The services offered by the Office for Health and Prevention are being expanded now that the joint vaccination centre with Chemnitz Hospital, which was set up during the pandemic, has ceased regular operations. The first port of call for vaccination advice and vaccinations is still the family doctor or paediatrician, who also know the individual medical history of the vaccinated person. The Office's services are therefore aimed first and foremost at people who are not under appropriate care.
Vaccinations are a simple, safe and very effective means of protection against serious infectious diseases. It is therefore very important to regularly check that your immunisation is complete and to refresh it if necessary. Due to declining vaccination rates, protective herd immunity is not given for all diseases and in all age groups, so individual prevention is essential.
The health authorities are responsible for closing gaps in vaccination protection in the population, organising appropriate vaccination campaigns or lockdown vaccinations to protect the population in the event of disease outbreaks.
