Vaccination centre extends consultation hours in the autumn season

Only vaccinations against influenza and SARS-CoV-2 are carried out in October and November

From 2 October, the Joint Vaccination Centre of the City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz Hospital will be offering vaccination appointments for citizens. It is located on the grounds of Chemnitz Hospital in House 11 (Bürgerstraße 2).

Dr Hildegard Geisler, medical officer of the City of Chemnitz, advises all Chemnitz residents from the age of 6 months to have an annual flu vaccination in autumn. This vaccination is particularly important for people with pre-existing conditions or for anyone who looks after people at risk. This particularly includes medical staff and employees in communal facilities. "Take advantage of the vaccination offer from your doctor's surgery or come to the vaccination centre," says Dr Hildegard Geisler. "Please note that it takes around 14 days to build up full immunity after vaccination."

In October and November, the vaccination centre will only offer vaccinations against influenza and booster vaccinations against SARS-CoV-2. Both vaccinations can also be given at the same time. If another vaccination is required, citizens are asked to contact their family doctor's practice.

The vaccination centre is open every Wednesday in October and November from 2 pm to 6 pm, except on the public holiday on 20 November. Please make an appointment in advance on these days by booking online at www.chemnitz.de/impfen or by dialling 115. A spontaneous enquiry on site with waiting times is also possible.

Additional vaccination appointments will be offered on Saturdays 26 October and 16 November from 10 am to 2 pm. It is not necessary or possible to make an appointment for these two days, the closing time on these two days is 1.30 pm.

Furthermore, from the end of September, the Office for Health and Prevention will publish on the City of Chemnitz website those GP practices that also offer vaccinations to people who do not belong to the patient base of the respective practice.

If citizens have any questions about the vaccination offer, the staff at the vaccination centre are always available at impfstelle(at)stadt-chemnitz.de. For all questions relating to travel vaccinations, please refer to the travel vaccination centre at Chemnitz Hospital. Appointments are available at inf-ambulanz(at)skc.de.
