Public green spaces such as parks, playgrounds, footpaths and recreational areas offer a wide range of opportunities for leisure and recreation. However, the City of Chemnitz Green Spaces Department would like to point out that, unlike public footpaths, there is no obligation to clear and grit paths within municipal parks and green spaces.
In order to minimise the risk for all users, the Parks Department asks you to note that walking in parks and green spaces in snow and icy conditions is always at your own risk.
In difficult weather conditions, pedestrians are asked to stay on the illuminated and cleared public footpaths and to take a short diversions if necessary.
Especially after storms or rainfall, users should exercise the necessary care and caution in public parks. Any warning notices and closures on site must be strictly adhered to.
Parents and carers should always keep an eye on children and point out potential sources of danger.
