Urgent decision on company relocation
Mayor Barbara Ludwig today made an urgent decision on the sale of a section of land in the Leipziger Straße industrial park. The city council resolution of 19 June 2013 will be revoked and revised with new content. The buyer will develop a commercial site in Röhrsdorf for Siemens, on which the company intends to consolidate its Chemnitz sites. In the final sales negotiations between the City of Chemnitz and the buyer, the buyer informed the City Council that a change was to be made to the buyer's acquisition company compared to the City Council resolution.
Verdion Chemnitz GmbH was named as the buyer in the original city council resolution in June. In the final negotiations, the buyer declared its intention to acquire the property for Troy Investment Holding S.à.r.l, a company under Luxembourg law.
The urgent decision was necessary because the tight schedule for the construction project meant that it would not have been possible to wait until the next regular city council meeting on 18 September 2013. Due to the holiday period, it was also out of the question to convene the city council meeting on 1 August 2013, disregarding the deadlines. "Not taking the urgent decision now would have meant a considerable risk that the investment would not have been made," says Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig.
The buyer's representatives clarify that the change in the acquisition company does not change the persons and companies behind it or acting on its behalf. Accordingly, the economic interest in the property does not change. The named holding company is therefore the buyer of the property and at the same time the lessor to Siemens AG. The pension fund behind the holding company ensures Siemens that it is financially equipped. In the interests of rapid development of the site, the purchase and lease agreements are to be concluded on the same date.
