On Wednesday, 17 June, from 2 to 5 p.m., interested parties are invited to the ERDF and ESF Plus project fair in and around the TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20. Visitors can find out about the wide range of sustainable urban development projects in Chemnitz and talk to project organisers, associations and other stakeholders.
Representatives of the media are also invited.
Visitors can expect a varied afternoon with information stands, creative hands-on activities and exciting insights into the subsidised projects. Whether building small wooden constructions, trying out lino printing, designing greetings cards or trying their hand at movement and skill games - there are numerous opportunities for children and adults to get involved. There are also creative activities centred around fossils, the environment and plants to discover.
Interested parties can also find out about local counselling services and talk to the project participants over a healthy drink. Small surprises at the wheel of fortune round off the programme.
ERDF and ESF Plus
Sustainable integrated urban development is also an important focus in Chemnitz in the current EU funding period from 2021 to 2027. The basis for this is the area-based integrated action plan (GIHK) adopted by the city council. With funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus), projects to improve living conditions, social stabilisation and sustainable development are being implemented in several areas of Chemnitz.
The funding will support two ERDF areas ("Zwickauer Straße" and "Chemnitz Mitte") and two ESF Plus areas ("Chemnitz Mitte" and "Chemnitz Süd 2.0"). Funding totalling around 17.8 million euros is available for this purpose.
The measures range from social education and integration programmes and projects for children and young people to projects that improve urban ecology, upgrade neighbourhoods and strengthen the local economy. The aim is to stabilise disadvantaged districts in the long term and strengthen social cohesion.
