Update of the Chemnitz 2025 sports development plan
At its meeting today, the Chemnitz City Council approved the update of the City of Chemnitz 2025 sports development plan - subject to the availability of budget funds and the provision of the planned funding. The sports development planning, which already dates back to 2020, will continue to be carried out in close cooperation with the Institute of Applied Human Movement Sciences at Chemnitz University of Technology. Taking into account the funds available and utilising the federal and state funding, the administration will update the prioritisation, which will be reported on annually in the school and sports committee.
The 124-page document lists sports facilities in Chemnitz, provides information on their condition and utilisation, compares the existing sports facilities with demand and makes recommendations for action. The recommendations for action are supplemented by an existing prioritised list of planned measures by the Education and Sports Department.
The sports development plan is also dedicated to the sports and exercise behaviour of the Chemnitz population. On the one hand, the data is based on research using existing documents provided by the City of Chemnitz, in particular the Education and Sports Department and the Chemnitz City Sports Association. On the other hand, a population survey was conducted for planning purposes.
In 2014/15, work began on updating the sports development plan until 2025. This continuation is not intended to cancel the measures already formulated, but to continue them.
The recommendations for action developed therein provide a needs-orientated framework, which is to be assessed depending on available budget funds and funding opportunities, as well as short-term changes.
