"Unwanted." The expulsion of three Chemnitz pastors in the 16th century
A lecture from the series "The city archive presents"
The retired pastor Dr Bernd Stephan from Großrückerswalde will give a talk on Wednesday, 20 January 2016 at 6 p.m. in the city archive, Aue 16, on the personal fates of the Chemnitz pastors Nicolaus Specht, Andreas Lange and Georg Rutha (Raute). The biographies vividly illustrate the state-church and faith-politics understanding at the time of the Lutheran Reformation. Admission is free.
The year 2017 marks the culmination and end of the Reformation Decade. Questions about the nature, characteristics and legacy of the Lutheran Reformation in our region will nevertheless remain. They help us to better understand some social and ecclesiastical developments in the present. The personal fates of the Chemnitz pastors Nicolaus Specht, Andreas Lange and Georg Rutha (Raute), who held office in Chemnitz after 1546, highlight the movements that were triggered by the Reformation and were to lead to fundamental social changes in the following centuries.
