On Tuesday, 24 February at 7 pm, interested parties are invited to a reading about East German identities and how they have been shaped over generations at the adult education centre, course room 4.07 in the TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20. Author Nora Zabel will be presenting her book "Vereint in Zerrissenheit. The East German Generation Z between two worlds". Afterwards, the author would like to talk to those present.

Even 35 years after German reunification, people are still talking about the gap between East and West. Sometimes it seems bigger than ever. The different influences in East and West are also noticeable for young adults who were born after 1989.
This is how sociologist and author Nora Zabel describes it in her book "Vereint in Zerrissenheit. Die ostdeutsche Generation Z zwischen zwei Welten", which was published in October 2025. In it, she examines the hopes, desires, thought patterns and fears of her generation, which is characterised by both the GDR past and the dynamic interrelationship between East and West. In dialogue with companions from East and West Germany, Nora Zabel traces the causes and backgrounds.
