"Undiscovered neighbours" - theatre meeting in Chemnitz
On the 5th anniversary of the discovery of the NSU crimes
The nationwide theatre festival "Undiscovered Neighbours" in memory of the victims of the
NSU murders will take place from 1 to 11 November 2016 at various venues in Chemnitz, Zwickau and other cities to mark the 5th anniversary of the discovery of the NSU crimes and the background to them.
The city of Chemnitz and the federal programme "Demokratie Leben" are supporting the theatre festival. The patron is the Mayor of Chemnitz, Barbara Ludwig.
In addition to the plays "The Gap" and "Germans among the Victims", highlights include the Chemnitz Puppet Theatre's own production "Undiscovered Neighbours" and the production "Open Process", which is being staged simultaneously at several theatres.
In addition to theatre plays, the programme of the meeting also includes discussion forums.

Travelling exhibition
On Wednesday, 10 August 2016 at 7 pm, the travelling exhibition "The victims of the NSU and coming to terms with the crimes" will also open at St. Matthäus Church in Chemnitz-Altendorf. The exhibition is also supported by the City of Chemnitz.
Promotion of projects - local action plan 2016
The importance of prevention in the areas of democracy promotion, democracy education and violence prevention has increased in view of the impact of global problems.
The city of Chemnitz is one of the few municipalities in Germany that has invested its own funds in long-term prevention work for democracy. The result is a functioning network of active people and institutions that are committed to preserving democratic values and living diversity.
Numerous project applications were submitted for 2016, showing that many people in Chemnitz are constructively tackling current social problems.
Here is an overview of the 39 projects that will be funded as part of the Local Action Plan 2016. (A further 12 are on a waiting list.)
