On Wednesday, 11 September, from 5 to 6.30 p.m., interested parties are invited to a lecture entitled "Understanding China: What makes Chinese culture special? How can we understand it better?". The lecture will take an informative approach to the country.

China has become one of the world's most important political and economic players. It is hard to imagine the daily news without the country and it is also becoming an increasingly interesting travel destination. But how can the "Middle Kingdom" be assessed and understood at all, as there is hardly any experience with the behaviour and values of this Far Eastern culture?
In her lecture, Dr Maria Faust explores these questions and provides a basic understanding of the special features of Chinese culture. The speaker is a communication and media scientist. Her research focusses on digital media, China, the so-called BRICS countries, the Global South and cultural change.
There will also be space for participants to discuss their personal points of contact and experiences with China and Chinese culture.
The aim of the event is to develop a basic intercultural competence for China. The event is open to everyone, regardless of whether the participants have already been to China, are planning a trip to China or are simply curious about China.
