About the exhibition
"Under the Spell of Plants - The Dose Makes the Poison", on display at the Museum für Naturkunde from 26 August to 19 November 2017, is a collection-related special exhibition that was created by the museum itself. The herbarium of Chemnitz pharmacist Dr Oskar Herbert Hornauer served as the basis for the idea. He was obliged to compile a herbarium during his pharmacy studies in order to recognise in nature what he processed into powders, tinctures and ointments in his pharmacy. These included poisonous plants. But as the scholar Paracelsus already knew, everything is a question of dose.
