Ultra-Orthodox dropout - Deborah Feldman reads at TIETZ on 13 March
For the Days of Jewish Culture, New York author Deborah Feldman will be reading from her autobiographical book "Unorthodox" on 13 March at 7 pm at the TIETZ.
Deborah Feldman grew up completely isolated from the outside world. She lived in one of the strictest Jewish Orthodox communities in New York. At 17, she was engaged to a man she had known for just 30 minutes and married him seven months later. A few years after the birth of her son, Deborah Feldman fled the world into which she had been born. She packed her child into a rented car and drove out of her old life into a new one. Today, Deborah Feldman lives a secular life with her son in Berlin.
Deborah Feldman wrote the book "Unorthodox" about her origins, which was a million-seller in the USA.
An event organised by the Förderer der Stadtbibliothek Chemnitz e. V. in cooperation with the association Tage der Jüdischen Kultur in Chemnitz e.V. and the Chemnitz City Library.
