Two trees felled on Huttenstrasse
For urgent traffic safety reasons, two trees on Huttenstraße in front of houses number 83 and 85 will have to be felled in the next few days.
The ongoing tree inspections have shown that there is an immediate need for action on the affected trees. The stability of the two lime trees is severely impaired by an aggressive, root-borne fungus. This is the blight fungus, which causes intensive white rot in the root area and at the base of the trunk. In addition, the fungus leads to mould rot and thus to a considerable impairment of traffic safety.
Several trees in the Huttenstrasse area have already had to be felled for safety reasons. It is also foreseeable that further felling will be necessary in the course of the next vegetation periods due to a lack of stability and resistance to breakage. The Parks Department is therefore planning to examine further locations for replanting as a continuation of the existing replanting - and as part of the renovation of Adalbert-Stifter-Weg.
