Parks department arranges for replanting
Two Norway maples on Andréstraße in the area between Agricola- and Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße were found to have massive crown damage and a trunk crack on one of the trees during ongoing tree inspections. According to the experts, both trees are at risk of breaking due to 90 per cent dead branches in their crowns and must therefore be felled.
Due to damage in the root area, the identified damage is associated with an impairment of the stability and fracture safety; under certain circumstances, the trees could break apart or topple over. Both Norway maples must therefore be felled for reasons of road safety. The Parks Department will commission a specialist company to carry out the work in the near future and will also arrange for the trees to be replanted at both locations in the 2014/15 growing season.
Note: The upcoming work is therefore without exception urgent measures to maintain or establish road safety.
