Two trees felled in the Sonnenberg district

This week, one tree on Humboldtstraße, in front of house number 10, and one on Humboldtplatz, opposite Johannes-Kepler-Gymnasium, will have to be felled.

Ongoing tree inspections have revealed that both trees require immediate action. Their stability is severely impaired by an aggressive, root-borne fungus. This is the blight fungus, which causes intensive white rot in the root area and at the base of the trunk. The fungus also causes mould rot. The rot leads to a considerable impairment of traffic safety.

Whether a replacement can be planted has yet to be assessed due to the blight fungus.
