"Twitter storm" of the professional fire services on 11 February
Chemnitz fire brigade takes part in Germany-wide campaign
On 11 February 2020 - the European Day of the Emergency Call - there will once again be a "Twitter Twitter" of the German professional fire services under the hashtag #112live to give the public a first-hand insight into the work of the fire services with operations, training and everyday tasks in the stations. The City of Chemnitz fire service will also be taking part in the campaign again under @FWChemnitz with the hashtag #Chemnitz112.
The campaign is organised by the network of press spokespersons of the German professional fire services to promote the Europe-wide and free emergency number and its life-saving importance. The aim is also to consciously promote greater recognition and understanding for the helpers behind this emergency number.
Last year, 40 German professional fire services made the emergency number 112 the focus of their public relations work for twelve hours for the first time in the joint "Twitter Twitter" campaign on 11 February. The attention generated was enormous, with the ARD news programme "tagesthemen" reporting on the Ratingen and Chemnitz professional fire services, among others.
Award for German professional fire brigades
On Friday, 7 February 2020, the German professional fire services will be awarded the "Golden Euro Emergency Call Star 2020" in Bonn for their services to the Europe-wide emergency call 112 by the European Centre Baden-Württemberg.
