Twin city Düsseldorf at the Days of Jewish Culture

Play on 11 October, 8 p.m. and public dinner on 12 October, 7 p.m.

Next weekend, the twin city of Düsseldorf will be represented with two projects at the Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz: on Saturday, 11 October at 8 pm with the play "Blindekuh mit dem Tod - Kindheitserinnerungen von Holocaust-Überlebenden" at the Spinnbau and on Sunday, 12 October at 7 pm with the public dinner "Zuversicht in dunklen Zeiten" at the Paradise Restaurant.

Interested parties are cordially invited to both events. A selected group of Düsseldorf citizens will also take part in both events and would like to meet citizens from Chemnitz and expand the mutual exchange between the twin cities. The state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia has already been active with several projects in Chemnitz during the European Capital of Culture year.


Blind man's buff with death - childhood memories of Holocaust survivors

Robert Gerloff's production is based on the memories of four Jewish children from Czernowitz before and during the Second World War. The focus is on the children's perspective - a story about a stolen childhood that is still relevant today.
The film will be followed by a panel discussion with Renate Aris, Jewish Community of Chemnitz, Herbert Rubinstein, Jewish Community of Düsseldorf, and the director Stefan Fischer-Fels on the topic of "Childhood during the Holocaust".

An event organised by the Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz in cooperation with the Chemnitz theatres, the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus and the Office for International & European Affairs of the state capital Düsseldorf.

A dinner about steps into the future with Chemnitz and Düsseldorf citizens

Over a three-course meal, short impulses and artistic contributions, the participants will enter into dialogue with each other. The focus is on sharing personal experiences and social perspectives.
