TU Chemnitz and VHS Chemnitz decide to co-operate
Practice and research are strengthened - further pilot project in preparation
On Friday 29 June, Prof. Dr Ulrich Klemm, representative of the Chair of Adult Education and Continuing Education at the Institute of Education at Chemnitz University of Technology, and the director of Chemnitz Adult Education Centre, Grit Bochmann, signed a cooperation agreement.
The aim is to share knowledge and experience on both sides, promote work shadowing by students, employees and research staff and support and accompany academic work and research activities in practical continuing education.
Both sides expect the cooperation to lead to a closer integration of research, teaching and continuing education practice for the benefit of VHS course participants and course leaders as well as students, who can already establish concrete practical references during their training.
Prof Dr Ulrich Klemm - Managing Director of the Saxon Adult Education Association from 2013 to 2021 - has taken up and decisively promoted the initiative of the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre due to his many years of academic experience.
"We will be starting with the first trainee from the education programme as early as August," says VHS Director Grit Bochmann. Professor Klemm adds: "The motivation boost alone that comes from such an internship is enormous. Chemnitz Adult Education Centre is an ideal partner for this."
Science will not be neglected either. Together with Prof. Dr Volker Bank from the neighbouring Chair of Vocational and Business Education, the Chair of Adult and Continuing Education is preparing a pilot project with the adult education centre. Its aim is to prepare and motivate pupils in mainstream schools to learn throughout their entire lives.
