Tree felling on the court steps and at the moated castle
To ensure road safety on the cycle path along the Chemnitz River and in preparation for a construction project at the Klaffenbach moated castle, a total of six trees will have to be felled over the coming week.
Three maple trees and a birch tree will be removed in the area next to the Gerichtstreppen/Fabrikstraße on the embankment wall, as well as overgrown small trees adjacent to the cycle path, thus ensuring unrestricted road safety for users of the cycle path along the Chemnitz. In the area around the Klaffenbach moated castle, two poplars will be felled at the castle car park by the arched bridge (downstream, i.e. on the left as seen downstream). The reason for this is the need to clear the site for the renovation work on the arched bridge, which is due to start in June 2014. Note: A separate press release will be issued to announce the start of construction.
The civil engineering office responsible for the work has commissioned Techno-Farm und Service GmbH from Neukirchen-Adorf, a specialist company already bound by the office's framework contract, to carry out the necessary felling at both locations. The costs for both the Fabrikstraße and Wasserschloß sites amount to approx. 1,000 euros each; although only two trees need to be felled at the Wasserschloß site, it will be necessary to use a lifting platform to remove them.
