Tree felling on Neefestraße and Blankenauer Straße
Due to a traffic accident, two 18-year-old street trees on Neefestraße, in the direction of the city centre, near the Chemnitz-Süd motorway exit, have been hit and damaged to such an extent that they are no longer stable. The felling is scheduled for mid-August.
Ongoing tree inspections have revealed that urgent action is needed on a chestnut tree on Blankenauer Straße near house number 31. One half of the crown of the tree has already broken off as the trunk head is rotten. A crack runs through the remaining tree from the trunk head to the ground. The chestnut tree is at risk of breaking at the damaged area and the tree's stability is severely restricted. The tree must be felled immediately.
Whether a replacement for the three trees can be planted is currently being examined.
