Tree felling in the Euba district
Measure along the Kirchweg from December 2015
A so-called maintenance cut is necessary to restore the clearance profile on the winding and narrow road, improve visibility and maintain road drainage.
43 overgrown trees that are too close together and at risk of breaking must be felled. These are birch and ash trees with trunk damage, rot, abnormal development in the crown area and other damage. This will give the remaining trees a better chance of developing.
The work will be carried out by employees of Chemnitz City Council from the beginning of December.
Without exception, all of the upcoming work is urgent and serves to maintain or establish road safety. All woodland maintenance measures in terms of the duty to maintain road safety are legally permissible and do not constitute an offence under §39 BNatSchG or §25 SächsNatSchg.
