Travelling exhibition "Germans from Russia - past and present"
Opening on Monday, 1 June 4 pm at Moritzhof
"Put down roots and strengthen society". This is the guiding principle of the new travelling exhibition "Germans from Russia - Past and Present", which will be presented by the Landsmannschaft der Deutschen aus Russland e.V., based in Stuttgart, from 2 to 22 June in the Bürgerhalle of the Bürger - und Verwaltungszentrum Moritzhof, Bahnhofstr. 53. The travelling exhibition is part of a nationwide integration project sponsored by the Federal Ministry of the Interior in Berlin and the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees in Nuremberg.
The exhibition will be opened on Monday, 1 June 2015 at 4 p.m. with welcoming speeches, a lecture, film, guided tour of the exhibition and cultural programme in the Bürgerhalle in the Moritzhof civic and administration centre in Chemnitz. Russland e. V. and Philipp Rochold, Mayor of the City of Chemnitz. The opening of the exhibition will be accompanied by musicians, singers and a singing group from Chemnitz.
There are also plans to present a further copy of the exhibition as a teaching project on the subject of migration and integration in Germany using the example of Germans from Russia in some schools in the city of Chemnitz.
The exhibition documents how the Russian-German returnees regained a foothold in Germany under often difficult conditions, how they managed to integrate into post-war society and how Germans from Russia are helping to shape our country in many ways today.
Opening hours from 2 June:
Monday to Thursday: 7 am to 6 pm
Friday: 7 am to 2 pm
Admission is free. All interested citizens are cordially invited to the exhibition and its opening.
