On Tuesday, 4 October, from 7 to 8.30 p.m., the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you to the lecture "Trauma Inflation - or: How do we keep our money safe?" in the TIETZ, event hall, 3rd floor. Interested parties will be given an overview of the causes, consequences and historical background of inflation. Admission is free of charge.

Will a loaf of bread soon cost 500 billion euros? Is history repeating itself and will the prices of everyday foodstuffs rise immeasurably, as they did in the 1920s? The term inflation is on everyone's lips again and the higher prices are clearly being felt by consumers. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine, the inflation rate is also forecast to rise further. And with it, the fear of an uncertain future is also increasing.
In his lecture, Dresden-based economic consultant Friedbert Damm explains the phenomenon of inflation. How does it come about and why can it be so damaging? And how can the euro be protected from losing value in the complex financial system of the European Union? Last but not least, Friedbert Damm addresses the effects of inflation on the social climate. He also explores the question of whether fears and anxieties are based on current developments or on past experience. Following his keynote speech, Friedbert Damm will be available for a lively discussion.
The event is a cooperation between the Saxon State Centre for Political Education and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre as part of the "Kontrovers vor Ort" project.
