The bus stops Lichtenauer Weg West and East, Gemeindepark in Röhrsdorf, Ludwig-Kühn-Straße South and North, In der Delle South and Reha-Zentrum für Blinde West have been rebuilt and are now barrier-free.
In addition to resurfacing the bus stop area, the existing pavements were also extended to make them more accessible for boarding the bus.
The new barrier-free bus stop areas created suitable structural infrastructure for bus transport and thus improved the bus network in the city of Chemnitz.
The construction period for the project was eight months from mid-April 2024 to the beginning of December 2024 and the work was carried out by Asphalt-Bau Chemnitz Tief- und Straßenbau GmbH from Bernsdorf. The costs for the construction project totalled around 421,000 euros. The state of Saxony is subsidising 90 percent of the sum for the eligible components.
