Traffic routing at Reichenhain primary school to be changed
One-way street regulation applies for one year - aim: to increase road safety
From Monday, 20 June, the traffic routing at Reichenhain primary school will be changed, initially for one year. A one-way system is planned for the co-operative road between Gornauer Straße and Am Hang Straße, where the school is located. The aim is to increase road safety for pupils and prevent dangerous situations at drop-off and pick-up times in future, in line with the nationwide Child Safety Day tomorrow, 10 June.
The signs for the one-way street regulation will be activated on 20 June between 2 pm and 4 pm and will remain in place until 19 June 2023 due to its nature as a pilot project.
This change to the traffic routing is the result of coordination discussions in which the school management, the Reichenhain local history association, the Chemnitz South-East Citizens' Platform and the Chemnitz City Council's school route safety working group and their members took part. Parents also expressed their desire for a one-way street regulation. Further measures are planned to improve school route safety in the Reichenhain district.
