Traffic restrictions in the city centre at the weekend

Closures, stopping restrictions and diversions required from 2 to 5 September

On Sunday, 4 September, C3 is organising the Sports United festival. Several programme items will take place from 12 noon to 6 pm, mainly in the Brückenstraße, Bahnhofstraße and Theaterstraße areas.

For this reason, the following traffic restrictions are necessary from 2 September, 8 am to 5 September, 2 pm. The closures and stopping restrictions are necessary to safeguard the events.

Closures:

  • Full closure from Saturday, 3 September, 6 a.m. to Monday, 5 September, 2 p.m:
    Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Theaterstraße/Mühlenstraße
  • Closure on Sunday, 4 September, 7 am to midnight:
    Theaterstraße between Hartmannstraße and Brückenstraße (in the direction of Brückenstraße); public transport free until 11.30 a.m.
  • Closure on Sunday, 4 September, 11.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. (Zentrumsring - inner lane):
    • Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Bahnhofstraße,
    • Bahnhofstraße between Brückenstraße and Zwickauer Straße,
    • Theaterstraße between Zwickauer Straße and Hartmannstraße,

Stopping restrictions:

  • from Friday, 2 September, 8 a.m. on Brückenstraße (Rondell car park and parking pockets in front of Terminal 3)
  • from Sunday, 4 September, 9 a.m. on Theaterstraße, Mühlenstraße and Brückenstraße (between Straße der Nationen and Bahnhofstraße)

The event will be secured by the Chemnitz Police Department with operational measures.

Information for neighbours:
The organiser is informing all residents and businesses about access to the city centre.
On Sunday, 4 September, from 11.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., police forces will regulate entry and exit via the following intersections:

  • Bahnhofstraße/Johannisplatz
  • Bahnhofstraße/Annabergerstraße/Bretgasse
  • Theaterstraße/Getreidemarkt
  • Theaterstraße/Innere Klosterstraße/Am Wall
  • Theaterstraße/Hartmannstraße

Bypass option:
It is possible to bypass the traffic closure via Straße der Nationen - Georgstraße - Mühlenstraße. The outer city centre ring road will remain open as far as Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Theaterstraße/Mühlenstraße.

Parking and public transport:
Participants and visitors to the event are requested to use the public car parks and car parks as well as public transport.
