Traffic restrictions for the company run

The running route will be closed to traffic on 2 September from 5.00 pm to 8.30 pm

This year’s Chemnitz Company Run will take place on Wednesday 2 September. The race will start at 5.45 pm. The organiser (Die Sportmacher GmbH) will be using Markt, Neumarkt, Rosenhof and Jakobikirchplatz as the event venue.

The race route runs via:
Am Wall – Webergasse – Theaterstraße – Hartmannstraße – Schloßstraße – Arndtstraße – Arndtplatz – Promenadenstraße – Schloßteichstraße – Schloßstraße – Schloßteichpark –
Erich-Schmidt-Straße – Promenadenstraße – Theunertstraße – Schloßstraße – Hartmannstraße – Fabrikstraße – Bierbrücke – An der Markthalle – Hartmannstraße – Theaterstraße – Webergasse – Jakobikirchplatz – Innere Klosterstraße – Rosenhof

Road closures
The race route will be completely closed to traffic from 5.00 pm until approximately 8.30 pm (see overview map). Set-up work will begin at 3.00 pm; from this time onwards, traffic restrictions are to be expected.

The Chemnitz Police Department will be responsible for operational security at the event.
Due to the construction work taking place in parallel as part of the Chemnitz Model Stage 4, Chemnitz city centre is facing a special situation which will affect private transport.

Road users who do not need to travel into the city centre are advised to give the area a wide berth.

One option for a wide detour is as follows: Leipziger Straße – Reichsstraße – Gustav-Freytag-Straße – Ritterstraße – Zschopauer Straße – Bahnhofstraße – Waisenstraße – Dresdner Straße – August-Bebel-Straße – Müllerstraße.

No-stopping zones and event stewards
For safety reasons, the no-stopping zones set up along the race route and the instructions given by stewards must be observed and followed.

Residents’ parking permits
All holders of a resident parking permit for Zones A, B and C will be temporarily permitted, on 2 September, to park in zones other than those specified on their permit during the period from 12 noon on Wednesday 2 September to 10 am on Thursday 3 September. (No separate action is required on the part of residents’ parking permit holders.)

Getting there and parking
Participants and visitors to the event are asked to use the city centre car parks and public transport.

As the ‘Roter Turm’ underground car park and the ‘Rathaus Passagen’ multi-storey car park are located both on the Chemnitz Model construction site and along the route of the company run, it will not be possible to enter either of these facilities for the duration of the event. An exit via the forecourt of the former ‘Hotel Congress’ towards Brückenstraße will remain open at all times.

Due to the ongoing construction work on the Chemnitz Model and the safety cordons in place for the company run, it will not be possible to enter the cul-de-sac on Brückenstraße at any time during the event. However, it will be possible to exit at any time via the Mühlenstraße/Brückenstraße junction.
