Traffic restrictions for the 22nd Chemnitz City Festival from 26 to 28 August 2016

In connection with the city festival, there will be traffic restrictions in the city centre from Thursday, 25 August, 6 am to Monday, 29 August, 4 pm.

1. closures

1.1 Full closure from 25 August, 6 a.m.

  • Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Theaterstraße
  • Theaterstraße from Hartmannstraße to Brückenstraße
  • Mühlenstraße from the level of "HeckArt"
  • Stump Brückenstraße exit onto Theaterstraße, Brückenstraße, Mühlenstraße

1.2 Closures for through traffic with residents free from 25 August, 6 a.m.

  • Mühlenstraße between Stadtbad to the level of "HeckArt"


1.3 Closures for through traffic with residents free from 26 August, 3 p.m.

  • Straße der Nationen towards the city centre from Carolastraße


1.4 Stationary traffic (securing construction work, diversion traffic)

Wednesday, 24 August, from 12 noon

  • Parking areas Brückenstr. at Rondell level incl. car park in front of the State Office for Taxation and Finance

Thursday, 25 August, from 6 a.m.

  • Parking areas Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Theaterstraße
  • Centre of Mühlenstraße between Brückenstraße and Stadtbad
  • Promenadenstraße between Erich-Schmidt-Straße and Hartmannstraße
  • Schloßstraße


2. accessibility of Stumpf Brückenstraße

Due to the expansion of the event areas at the Brückenstraße / Theaterstraße and Mühlenstraße junction, access to Stumpf Brückenstraße from Mühlenstraße cannot be guaranteed.

It is therefore necessary to implement a modified traffic routing in this area so that access and exit is via Schloßstraße - "Jannsenbrücke" using a traffic light. Please note that residents and businesses will only be able to enter the stump via a right-turn lane from Schloßstraße.


3. delivery traffic

Delivery traffic in the Brückenstraße (terminal) and Straße der Nationen area will be guaranteed until 8 a.m. on Friday 26 August.
