Traffic restrictions as part of the German Road Cycling Championships

On the occasion of the German Road Cycling Championships 2017 from 23 to 25 June in Chemnitz, residents, motorists and public transport users must expect considerable restrictions. The 19.4-kilometre route covers the area from Altmittweida via the city centre to Schösserholz. The race will start and finish at Hartmannplatz. The race routes for the time trial on Friday and the road race on Saturday and Sunday will require the complete closure of some roads. Due to the extent of the closures, these will be set up and dismantled two hours before and after the race.

This results in the following closure times:

Friday, 23 June 2017
Chemnitz - Markersdorf: 12 noon to 9 pm
Markersdorf - Altmittweida: 3.30 pm to 9 pm

Saturday, 24 June 2017
Entire route: 12 to 9 pm

Sunday, 25 June 2017
Entire route: 8 am to 7 pm

The women's and men's time trial on Friday includes the following route:

from 12 noon: Schloßstraße - Georgstraße - Nordstraße - Schönherrstraße - Blankenburgstraße - Heinersdorfer Straße - ESC premises - Heinersdorfer Straße - Chemnitztalstraße - continue on B107 - OL Auerswalde - OL Garnsdorf - OL Markersdorf - turnaround U23/women

from 15.30: OL Claußnitz - OL Altmittweida - turnaround men Frankenauer Straße - (same route back) - Hartmannstraße

The women's and men's road race will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The route involves the following roads: Reichsstraße - Gustav-Freytag-Straße - Bernsdorfer Straße - Wartburgstraße - Reichenhainer Straße - Gornauer Straße - Zschopauer Straße (old) - Hermersdorfer Straße - Adelsbergstraße - Olbersdorfer Straße - Augustusburger Straße - Brückenstraße - Theaterstraße - Hartmannstraße/Polizeidirektion

The family cycle tour taking place on Saturday will be secured by the police in order to minimise restrictions along the designated professional women's route. For urgent supply and operational services, there will only be road closures at selected points on Saturday and Sunday:

Locks will be set up for private and public transport to the road race course, which will be manned by police officers. It is imperative to note that the police will only cross the racetrack at the established gates depending on the course of the race and only via operational regulations. Private car drivers must follow the instructions of the police, who will regulate the lock times and the entry and exit points at important junctions. This applies along Reichsstraße, Augustusburger Straße, the junction at Stefan-Heym Platz, selected sections of Gornauer Straße and the slip road to the Südring from Adelsbergstraße. The Chemnitz-Nordost police station on Hartmannstraße will still be accessible. Please note the stopping restrictions that will be set up in advance along the race route.
