Traffic lights on Annaberger Straße back in operation from tomorrow after renewal
Road users should also note the changes in the Gustav-Freytag-Straße area and the new cycle lane on Annaberger Straße heading inland
The stationary traffic lights on Annaberger Straße in the area of the Annaberger Straße/Beckerbrücke and Annaberger Straße/Gustav-Freytag-Straße junctions, which were severely damaged by the June floods and therefore temporarily out of service, are to be put back into operation tomorrow, Tuesday (1 October). The road will be opened at around 9 am.
Over the past few weeks, the entire signalling equipment on both systems had to be replaced by the civil engineering department. The company Swarco, NL Leipzig, was commissioned with the work. The total costs amount to 85,000 euros.
Road users please note that the following changes will occur when the stationary traffic lights are re-commissioned tomorrow:
In the area of the Gustav-Freytag-Straße access road, there will only be one left-turn lane into Annaberger Straße from tomorrow, plus two straight lanes and one right-turn lane. The new arrangement is designed to cope with the volume of traffic on the road. In order to avoid potential conflicts with pedestrians and cyclists crossing the road, right-turning traffic in Gustav-Freytag-Straße will be given a separate green phase.
In addition, one lane in Annaberger Straße between Annenstraße and Beckerbrücke in the landward direction will be given up in favour of a cycle lane.
