Traffic information for 1 June in Chemnitz

Numerous assemblies and events of various political orientations have been registered for Saturday, 1 June in Chemnitz.

Information on the traffic situation: During the assembly there will be considerable traffic obstructions in the city centre and in parts of the Sonnenberg.

The following roads or sections of roads will be closed from 5am:

  • Bahnhofsstraße between Brückenstraße and the access road to the main railway station car park
  • Waisenstraße between Bahnhofstraße and Dresdner Platz
  • Augustusburger Straße between Bahnhofstraße and Zieschestraße
  • Straße der Nationen between Georgstraße and Heinrich-Zille-Straße

Brückenstraße between Theaterstraße and Straße der Nationen will be closedfrom 7.30 a.m. due to the "International Children's Day at Kopp" event. There will be a ban on stopping on both sides from 7 am to 8 pm on Saturday.


From 10 a.m. , Georgstraße will be closed from Mühlenstraße in the direction of the bus station.


The following streets will be closed from 12 noon:

  • Dresdner Straße towards the city centre from Fürstenstraße
  • Cross street to Hainstraße, such as Philippstraße, Lessingstraße, Peterstraße, Gießerstraße, Ludwig-Kirsch-Straße, Glockenstraße
  • Hainstraße towards the city centre from Gellertstraße
  • Hilbersdorfer Straße (exit onto August-Bebel-Straße)

The traffic closures will only be lifted after operational clearance by the police.


Parking:
There will be restrictions due to stopping bans in the following areas on Saturday:

  • Car park at the Johanniskirche (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
  • Arndtplatz car park and on Promenadenstraße between Hartmannstraße and Arndtplatz (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
  • Hainstraße between Palmstraße and Fürstenstraße (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • Karl-Liebknecht-Straße (8 am to 9 pm)

Residents are asked to observe these times. Since the middle of this week, the traffic wardens have been distributing information leaflets to parked vehicles in the relevant road sections. We ask residents for their understanding for these measures. We do not want to cause any further inconvenience. On Saturday morning, 1 June, illegally parked vehicles must be towed away at the owner's expense.


Local public transport:
Public transport locks will be secured by the police and access to the closed areas by public transport will be operationally enabled by the police according to the operational situation.

  • Augustusburger Straße/Bahnhofstraße
  • Straße der Nationen/Georgstraße
  • Georgstraße/Mühlenstraße
