City Hall prepares for the Winter Olympics
Invitation to the photo session: 2 February, 10.30 a.m., in front of Chemnitz City Hall
On Friday 9 February, the Olympic flame will be lit in PyeongChang, South Korea. Athletes from all over the world will be competing for the coveted Olympic medals until 25 February. Athletes from the Chemnitz/Dresden Olympic Training Centre are also among the 154 German athletes competing in 15 sports. Nico Ihle (speed skating) Björn Kircheisen and Eric Frenzel (Nordic combined), Katharina Hennig (cross-country skiing), Richard Freitag (ski jumping), Denise Herrmann (biathlon), Axel Jungk (skeleton), Bianca Walter and Anna Seidel (short track), Nico Walther, Stephanie Schneider, Francesco Friedrich, Martin Grothkopp, Candy Bauer and Eric Franke (bobsleigh).
To send the athletes a small greeting from their home in Saxony, a banner will hang on Chemnitz town hall during the games. The banner will feature portraits of the 15 athletes, their names, their home clubs and their sport.
The banner will be put up tomorrow, Friday 2 February, from 10.30 a.m. on the side of the town hall facing Neumarkt. Representatives of the media are invited to the photo opportunity.
