Topping-out ceremony for the hillside daycare centre

Date: Tuesday, 17 December, 1 pm, Kita Am Hang 22 in Reichenhain

On Tuesday, 17 December at 1 p.m., Mayor Ralph Burghart and the sponsor (AWO) will be hosting a topping-out ceremony for the daycare centre at Hang 22.
Representatives of the media are also cordially invited to this event.

The new building to expand the daycare centre will increase capacity from 38 to 56 places. This includes nine places for children aged 1 to 3 years and 47 places for children aged 3 to 7 years. The outdoor area of the daycare centre will also be restructured. The daycare centre is run by the Workers' Welfare Association (AWO). Construction began in March. Construction is scheduled to end in October 2020 so that the children can move in in December 2020. The costs amount to 3.2 million euros, including 921,000 euros in funding from the "Bridges to the Future" financial package.

The old building was demolished and a larger new building was erected with the aim of creating more capacity and meeting the current spatial requirements for daycare centres. The building will provide the children with four group rooms, a baby bedroom, a therapy and creative room, three washrooms and a large central entrance and cloakroom area for multifunctional use, among other things. In addition, a kitchen with changing room and sanitary facilities as well as a staff changing room with lounge area for the carers, a manager's room, a barrier-free toilet and areas for a caretaker will be installed.

The outdoor facilities will also be remodelled, including a shed for outdoor play equipment, a paved scooter track, sand and water play areas, climbing and balancing equipment, various swings and a forest construction site. There will also be three car parking spaces, a pram room and barrier-free access.
