Stefan Schwarz gets cancer in his mid-50s. Or rather, the cancer gets him. Because Schwarz is experienced in dealing with existential upheavals: "When fate strikes, I strike back!" Like a "Marie Kondo of the soul", he begins to tidy up his life and makes surprising discoveries in the process. He also sheds the haste we all know in our everyday lives, the constant pressure of having to deal with something. And reflects on slowness, on the moment.

Stefan Schwarz talks about all this with great clarity - and with his unique sense of humour, which contains an entire philosophy of life. He looks at his existence calmly, deeply and with pleasant self-irony; inwardly free and yet fighting for the future, he writes about the possible end and the associated awakening: "After all, that's the whole point of cancer. That you stop fooling yourself and others, that you stop, that you wake up and rub your eyes." And he writes about what has happened and is happening: life in its fullness, which Stefan Schwarz captures as if under a burning glass. An extraordinary book - stirring, moving, liberating.

Stefan Schwarz, born in Potsdam in 1965, is a journalist and writer. He writes theatre plays and for television, including the screenplay for the ARD series "Sedwitz", but above all column collections such as "Ich kann nicht, wenn die Katze zuschaut" (2008) and novels such as "Das wird ein bisschen wehtun" (2012) and "Oberkante Unterlippe" (2016). The film adaptation of his debut novel "Hüftkreisen mit Nancy" was broadcast to great acclaim on ZDF in 2019. His readings enjoy cult status. Stefan Schwarz lives with his family in Leipzig.
