Tips for shady locations in gardens and on terraces

The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you to an online seminar about useful plants for the shade garden on Wednesday, 30 June 2021, 5 to 7.15 pm. Participation is free of charge. Interested parties can register at www.vhs-chemnitz.de or 0371 488 4343 until 2 p.m. on the day of the event and will then receive an access link by email.
Gardeners know the problem when almost nothing grows under the canopy of a huge tree. Others wonder how a shady balcony can be greened.
The event offers practical solutions for green "problem areas". Surprising discoveries can be made in the process. These include flowering plants that also inspire bees and bumblebees. They exist: the uncomplicated perennials that conjure up light even in the darkest garden and patio areas.
An experienced hobby gardener will also tell you lots of interesting facts about growing fruit in a shade garden and using bulbous plants to create unrivalled spring magic.
The event is part of the "Living Consciously" course series at Chemnitz Adult Education Centre in the 2021 summer semester. The series comprises seven events that show that a conscious approach to natural resources is possible in everyday life.
