Tin pond is desludged

Living conditions for animals are improved

The tin pond in the Schönau district is currently being desludged. The aim is to improve the living and breeding conditions for amphibians in the "Zinnteich" habitat in Rittergutpark on Zwickauer Straße. Around 1,500 cubic metres of sediment and vegetation are being removed.

In addition, the heavy overgrowth of bulrushes in the water will be removed so that the tin pond can be experienced as a pond again by passers-by. The small island will be preserved as a retreat and breeding site for animals.

Work began at the start of the year on 5 January, weather permitting. The project is expected to be completed by the end of February 2026. The construction costs amount to approx. 75,000 euros

The desilting and sediment removal work is being carried out by the company Oehme GmbH from Nossen.
